Mike Weems has been repairing stringed and fretted instruments for the past thirty two years. His education in luthiery started in 1981 at what was then the Redwing Vocational School, with David Patterson in Redwing, Minnesota. After graduation, he worked with Devon Bogue at the Atlanta Guitar Works, and then trained with Hans Nebel in Durham, New Hamphire. After working with Draisen-Edwards Music for seventeen years as their stringed and fretted instrument department head, he now owns and operate his own shop.
