Founded by Chris Ivory in 1996, this specialized repair shop has built its reputation on meticulous guitar repair, setup work, and electronics restoration. Chris has been working on musical instruments since 1980, transforming that hands-on experience into a trusted professional service.

As a dedicated one-man operation, Ivory Sound Works ensures every customer works directly with the luthier performing the actual repairs. The shop handles comprehensive stringed instrument work including electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitars, mandolins, banjos, and dobros. Beyond fretwork and guitar setup services, the business tackles complex electronics repair for tube and solid-state amplifiers, stomp boxes, keyboards, and PA systems. Speaker reconing and cabinet repair round out the technical offerings.

In 2006, Chris expanded into custom instrument building through Ivory Lutherie, adding handcrafted guitars to the company’s capabilities. Operating on a mobile service model, Ivory Sound Works offers pickup and delivery within the Wyckoff area, with a convenient drop-off partnership at Ackerman’s Music for customers preferring that option.
