Chesnut Family Music opened in 2009 as a family-run operation rooted in multiple generations of musical tradition. After losing his son Justin in 2008, founder Mark Chesnut left his previous career to pursue his passion for music full-time. His son Jordan Chesnut now leads the business alongside his wife, expanding their reputation well beyond Effingham.

The shop has earned recognition for guitar repair and amplifier work that serves professional musicians from Nashville’s recording studios. Their guitar tech services include everything from basic setups and fretwork to complex neck resets, crack repairs, and electronics modifications. Jordan and his team have pursued formal training in both instrument and amplifier repair, establishing J. Chester Amplification for custom tube amp builds.

Beyond their luthier work on acoustic and electric guitars, Chesnut Family Music supports the local music community through school band instrument repairs with NAPBIRT-registered technicians. Their vintage guitar work and custom builds reflect the craftsmanship that’s made them a trusted name among working musicians. The business maintains its family values while serving over 500 instrument repairs annually and teaching more than 100 weekly students.
