After spending years as a professional chef and woodworker creating high-end furniture, Josh merged his 30+ years as a guitarist with his woodworking expertise to found this boutique guitar shop in 2023. What began as two T-style guitars built for himself and a friend quickly evolved into a full-fledged operation after local players discovered his craftsmanship.

Working from his small Gettysburg shop, Josh specializes in custom guitar builds tailored to each player’s unique style, taking a naturalist approach with hand-selected hardwoods to create stunning instruments. Every guitar is meticulously crafted, finished, assembled, and set up in-house, ensuring the attention to detail that only a dedicated luthier can provide. Beyond his boutique builds, Bear Mtn Guitarworks also offers guitar repair services and maintains a selection of stock models.
