A little on why I started String & Amp

Here’s the thing: your guitars aren’t just things you own — they’re so much more than that. In your hands, each one has a familiar weight to it. It hangs a certain way across your body. Your fingers know their spots on the neck. You know how to adjust that one string slightly higher than the sweet spot to sound in tune .

So when there’s that slight fret buzz — you notice it immediately and know it wasn’t there yesterday. You can tell when that bar chord on the 8th fret just doesn’t ring the right way.

It’s similar with your amp. You know the warmth of those tubes and the specific pop when you plug in your cable. And you know when it’s sounds slightly off.

So you can’t just trust just anyone to fix your guitar or service your amp.

The best techs and luthiers I’ve ever come across weren’t easy to find — they don’t have flashy websites or run ads. They just do incredible work, quietly, for players who were lucky enough to find them. That felt like a problem worth solving.

I created String & Amp so that whether you’re a seasoned pro or still getting those first calluses, you can find a local, experienced tech who’ll treat your gear with the same care you do.

Who am I?

My name is Will, and I’ve been playing guitar for over 20 years at this point. I’ve played in bands off and on over the years, but not a day goes by when I don’t pick up a guitar and noodle around. String & Amp is a “one man show” built by a guy who loves his guitars and wanted to help others find the right service tech for theirs.
