Profile
David Teske brings decades of woodworking expertise and a deep passion for vintage instruments to his Kalamazoo-based finishing and repair practice. His journey began at age 8 with his first guitar and evolved through years of furniture making alongside his father before discovering his true calling in instrument construction and restoration.
Since 2003, David has honed his craft at Heritage Guitars, the boutique guitar company operating in the original Gibson factory building. Working alongside former Gibson craftsmen who built some of the world’s most iconic instruments, he mastered every aspect of guitar construction, from body assembly to his specialty in finishing and setup work, where he now serves as supervisor.
This unique combination of traditional luthier skills and hands-on experience with custom guitar builds makes David’s shop an ideal destination for vintage guitar work and refinishing projects. His background includes crafting banjos, ukuleles, violins, and numerous guitars from scratch, giving him comprehensive knowledge of instrument repair and restoration. Players seeking expert fretwork, professional setup services, or complete refinishing for their prized instruments will find a craftsman who truly understands the soul of vintage guitars.
