Chapman & Fisher Guitars brings together decades of luthier expertise in the heart of Amherst, Massachusetts. Master luthier Alan Chapman has been handcrafting fine classical guitars since 1973, earning recognition from Acoustic Guitar Magazine as one of the finest individual makers working today. Over his 50-year career, Chapman has built everything from meticulous Torres replicas to innovative extended-composite-lattice instruments of his own design. In 2018, Gef Fisher joined the workshop after studying Ethnomusicology, Organology, and Classical Guitar performance at Williams College.

Located in the historic Old Mill building dating to 1838 in North Amherst, the shop specializes in custom boutique guitar builds with an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship. Chapman & Fisher are perfectionists who rigorously select only the top 1% of tonewoods and materials for their handmade classical guitars. They work closely with musicians to design instruments tailored to individual playing styles, offering various bracing designs and scale lengths.

When their building schedule permits, these experienced luthiers assess and repair handmade classical guitars, bringing the same exacting standards to instrument repair that defines their custom work.
