Profile
Fairhaven Frets brings four decades of lutherie expertise to the South Coast music community under the skilled hands of owner Bryon Knight. After building Arkansas’s largest string instrument repair shop over a decade in Little Rock, Knight relocated to Fairhaven, Massachusetts to continue his craft in his wife’s native New England.
Knight’s journey began at age 11, learning traditional instrument building techniques from a master violin maker. His career has spanned touring musician, guitar tech, and eventually full-time luthier specializing in both vintage guitar restoration and custom boutique builds. This depth of experience means everything from precision fretwork and professional setups to complete vintage guitar overhauls receives meticulous attention.
The shop serves as a community hub for South Coast musicians, offering instrument repair and sales alongside products from respected makers like Fishman, Seymour Duncan, and D’Addario. Knight’s background blends old-world craftsmanship learned sweeping sawdust in that early violin shop with modern technical knowledge, making Fairhaven Frets equally adept at breathing new life into treasured heirlooms or optimizing working musicians’ instruments for peak performance.
